Way way too on the nose. Had knee surgery last week that went badly and has led to rounds of increasingly spicy complications. In and out of ER and ever growing medical team. So many people I have to stop and get reminded which person is which specialty. Grim stuff (especially for essentially no medical intervention needed for several decades). No profound or even mundane lessons. Just avoid getting ensnared in this system because it is not clear to me that it ever lets you go. Exercises especially helpful for getting by with one leg in a brace: Turkish get ups, pistols, and dips. Also general core strength. Movement is life. Stop moving and... things happen that are neither comfy nor safe. Wish that what I'm dealing with was at 92 instead of 46.
The context of the Bezos comment was that someone observed that the Bezos small children were allowed to use knives and scissors unsupervised and he (or she) rebutted that they would rather have a kid with nine fingers than a resourceless kid.
I read your last post on the eye surgery. Looks like it might be better than Lasik (haven't done more than surface research on it). I did some poking around on the Zeiss website, but are there some other resources you looked at before making a decision? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost?
I don't mind the question but don't recall the precise amount; $7kish. The Zeiss site was my primary reading on that procedure. I spoke with the doctor and got some excellent 1-on-1 feedback from VT readers on risks and reward generally from corrective eye surgery.

One of the best posts yet
Thank you!
I watched a special on winged suits. All the innovators and legendary leaders were dead.
That's what she said. I surrendered to that point...

Appreciate the response. I have looked at Lasik in the past but it would be nice to be done with contacts and glasses.
Roger’s Rangers Standing Orders. I freaking love them. Great rules to live by. They also come from an amazingly handy handbook. Great pick
