The 4" blade limit is not a factor for EDC, but it probably also includes making auto-opening knives illegal as well. In Tennessee, you can pretty much carry anything (open or concealed) as long as you're strong enough to carry it. Bad for the pocketbook, because I can buy anything that catches my eye. : - /

Tennessee seems like an optimal state in many ways. Glorious eastern mountains, low taxes, four good seasons, nice people.

You have great taste in blades! My LSW laughed at me when I bought the d'capitain last year on your recommendation. When I broke it out on new years eve to open the champagne her and her friends went from frightened to amazed in about 10 seconds. The DEF reset looks fun.

I was just today debating my son on that topic -- he's a competitive fencer and was trying to dissuade me from the benefits of companion blades which seem like a great idea to me. In our debates, I'm perpetually trying to justify things I like (eg pairing this https://zombietools.net/collections/blades/products/dcapitan-cutlass with this https://zombietools.net/collections/blades/products/dcapitan-companion) but he reminds me that if it is what made the most sense, my goofier ideas would have seen more use in their most relevant eras. Oh well. Great blades (and Lone Sentinel Engraving does beautiful scroll work for them https://www.lonesentinel.com/gallery-4). I'm so glad you got to use D'Capitan for sabrage! Great party trick! For anyone else reading this: please try first 1) with a cheapo bottle and 2) without an audience. For added flair, it is extra fun to of course be sober but act a bit tipsy as if you're going to hack off an arm before hacking off the champagne cork with a single swipe. When I explain what I'm going to do, I gesticulate somewhat clumsily with my sword had which gets everyone's attention.

Great stuff. On to 2025. What electrolytes did you end up switching to? Does biosteel have same issues as LMNT

The bad LMNT experience has left me more skeptical of these companies. Biosteel looks promising. In practice, I've just been drinking water.

Makes sense. Thanks!

The image of the muscular Santa brought to mind one of my favorite recently made Christmas movies, "Violent Night," starring David Harbour as Santa.
