The Human Advantage
Protecting the warfighters
I have a family friend deployed to Lebanon to fight Hezbollah terrorists. I want to do something tangible and immediate to help keep him and his unit as safe as possible in difficult circumstances. To that end, friends and families are organizing to send them the best available life-saving equipment including upgraded plates and goggles.
This project costs $50k. So far we’ve raised $12,217; if we can raise another $2,165 today, that would let us buy the ballistic goggles. They cost 1,230 shekels or $423 each for 34 pairs. I have given to this worthy cause as has my family. If you can help, I would be grateful.
You could save someone’s eyes from shrapnel. We will move fast — if we can knock out this attempt to pay for the final 6 pair today, we can get the money in motion to get gear to the front lines within a week. They are on the front lines of civilization. I want to protect them at all costs.
These soldiers don’t want flowers. They don’t need you to thank them for their service. They volunteered. They want to be there. But this relatively small step could protect them from avoidable blindness, maiming, and deaths. It will save lives. Disregard if not interested, but if you donate a pair of goggles, please comment below to let me know!

My son was a combat paratrooper in the IDF from 2010 to 2012 on the Lebanon border. It's an elite unit: 6 jumps from a C-130 on a static line, with an 80-lb ruck strapped to him. Go, count to 3. If the chute doesn't open, pull the reserve. If it doesn't open, make peace with God. If so, unbuckle the ruck, and it drops on a tether 30' below you because landing without it causes enough mayhem-broken everything, femurs, tibia, etc. Luckily, things were like pilots describe flying-- hours of boredom interrupted by moments of stark terror. Takeoff and landing. Israel has a reserve army, and they are doing the fighting with shit equipment, so Kol Ha Kavod (all the honors) to you and your buddy. I was booked for a 10-day stay, leaving MIA-TLV on March 1. Purim, like Mardi Gras, Carnivale, Halloween, and April Fools ' Day, all in one at Mike's Place and all over Tel Aviv. Will go later. You're a stud.
