I admire your spirit, but please take your time to have a full recovery. At least you’ll have plenty of time to study the stock market while you recover, lol.

Wow, that's a heartfelt gut punch. that brought tears to my old eyes. Knowing you, you'll come out of this smarter and stronger. Best advice I can offer is to be patent, and don't push too hard to come back. Setbacks make us stronger when we come back. Buddha1010
Geez man, best wishes for full and speedy recovery. Always inspired to read anything you write - focus on moving forward. No "ifs" only "whens" - be well!!!
Chris, truly hope you get back to your happy place. Don't worry if it takes some time. LIsten to your body and pace it. Enjoy slow and steady progress.
Chris, so sorry to hear horrible ordeal you are going through. One expects a slow recovery from most knee surgeries, but not life threatening PEs. Your physical and mental strength will see you through this. I don’t know anyone better equipped to handle this unexpected setback. Unfortunately, it may take more time than you want, but we know you will recover. We are all pulling for you to have as speedy a recovery as possibly.
I'd say "I realize how much of my happiness is tied to usefulness when I become 100% useless" is a pretty profound takeaway. Your challenge (should you choose to accept) is what does it mean? I have a hunch there is a pretty deep well of wisdom you will discover as you go thru this. No pain is wasted if we lean into it and learn from it. Peace.
Damn 3 PEs with a violent sense of urgency. Lucky to be alive. Don’t think about that. Focus on recovery and the valuable perspective garnered from being useless albeit briefly. Towing the line between too much and not enough is always an art.
Chris, really sorry to hear about your misfortune. You have to keep moving, but your body has a limited capacity for rebuilding/recovery, so you’re going to have to balance exercise and healing. Keep a close watch on opioids, you may be surprised at how liberally these double edged swords are doled out relative to your needs. Perhaps “what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger” is still applicable, yet isn’t just about physical strength. Know that you’re getting a little better every day, and it will bright on the other side of this even if it turns out to be different. Best wishes.

I'm 53 and 3 knee surgeries in...you adjust, adapt and keep moving...it may look different...today for me, it's a 2hr mountain bike ride.
I hope you recover well. Stay strong!
Hey Chris, I never thought a one-leg rowing machine performance could be that good (OK I never tried, but still!)
Wishing you a magestic recovery. Please keep us posted...
Wishing you a full and mighty recovery Chris
