Located fairly close to your home state - Get Asian Pear trees. We have 2 and they produce like crazy with no upkeep. Easily 100 fruit through the fall. Out of all the fruit trees/bushes/garden items we do that has been the best outcome.
And it is a great mix of apple/pear taste & texture. You can get one at a store then assume the ripe one you pluck from a tree is 100x better
Let me know how it goes - though you may want a 2nd one since my wife's 'tree lady' said even though asian pears can partially self-pollinate, you ideally want 2 within 50 feet to get the full potential.
Will do; new to the pollination issue and ran into the same thing with apples and cherries, even when they claim self-pollination. Possible with one; better with two (same with humans).

Ordered a pear tree. Here goes nothing! Thanks for the good idea.

YES! I love the messages you are sending to people in Vale Tudo. Please keep it up. We need to hear this!
