In last year’s push-up comp I did 682, this morning’s final score was 811, and I’m shooting for 900 next year. I chose to be strict on form despite a fairly wide range in terms of standards among the competitors. As always, Whiteboard Daily is great on cues:
Thanks to my son Christopher for keeping score, to my friend Andrew for pushing ‘em out by my side and keeping me entertained while we suffered together, and to Jarrod for organizing the event. Thanks to everyone that gave. Current score on that front is $5,973 but another $120 needs to be transferred over from Facebook and a few generous friends donated per push-up so that too needs to be added to the total. Keeping this open for a final day in case you want to help.
My strategy was 6 every 30 seconds but I felt quite fresh after 50 minutes so switched to 6 every 20 seconds then every 15 seconds for the last few minutes. I like sets of 6 as fast as possible, ideally within five seconds. Next year going to try 5 every 20 seconds then 6 every 20 seconds the subsequent year. I’ve barely gotten out of the house since my knee injury so was elated to be around other people and to push myself in a way I could manage. Everyone can do something and today I could do this.
Are you doing close grip (elbows brush ribs) or wide grip push ups?
Awesome accomplishment. You have to be pretty psyched.
