Reflecting
People who don’t have time to exercise always have the best suggestions for Netflix shows.

Dialysis takes an average of about twelve hours per week of just sitting in a chair. It is the consequence of the decision to expose yourself to metabolic disease. This is also a pretty good training budget. It can be used in different ways depending on goals and interest, but CrossFit is a great base (that gets me to 7 hours), traditional gym bodybuilding workouts with my trainer gets me to 10, and trail running on Saturday gets me to 12. I go over a bit voluntarily for fun between running on Sundays and jiu jitsu so end up at closer to 16, but 12 seems like a very sustainable commitment. Beats dialysis and virtually guarantees that you won’t need it. We all pay; we just get to choose how.
Training
Today’s white board: 6 Rounds not for time
4 paused back squats as heavy as possible
100 ft suitcase carry as heavy as possible
:30 GHDSU weighted hold
Then off to work out with my trainer this afternoon.
Fueling
This morning was 5 eggs then made venison monster mash for lunch. Today’s order for the next week:
Supplementing
No huge cyber Monday sales or anything, but decent prices on this effective weight management supplement that I take as well as beta-alanine which Matt Fraser called a “third lung”.
Measuring
Recovering
Coming off of four great trail runs in four days, feeling it in my joints and happy to have a few days off of the trails before doing more. I love running enough to want to make sure that it is sustainable for decades to come.
Closing
I’m in my second week of working on heel hooks in jiu jitsu and they are starting to get smooth(er). It is so fun to pick up a new skill. Now every time I see an ankle, it makes me think of heel hooks. A side note of marital advice: sometimes when a wife is reading a book, she just wants to read her book and doesn’t want to be any part of jiu jitsu practice.
I admire your commitment to fitness and health, but there is such a thing as over training. I should know, after two shoulder replacements, and two knee. replacements. Be careful out there!

Not married, but I have found this out in several situations in bed.
