Fueling
Added goose eggs to my breakfast rotation. They are huge. I still slightly prefer duck eggs but goose eggs are nice for variety. Just had a few tomahawk steaks. The cow steaks are great with just salt but bison steaks need a bit of bison tallow in the pan because they are so lean. Both blacked outside and rare inside.
Pharma
Added 5 mgs/day of tadalafil pre-workout. It improves lean body mass and endothelial function (basically opens up blood vessels). Anyone who does strength training should be on creatine and any man over 40 should test to see if enclomiphene could help, but tadalafil is my third candidate for ubiquity within the next few years.
Training
Started a weekly private training session. I love group CrossFit classes, but in an hour I had improved my powerlifting for more than I had in months of group classes. My trainer is working to maximize muscular hypertrophy over the next 10 weeks. The week’s highlight: my 8-year old joined me for a backyard ultra.
Inspiration
I love following the athletes able to combine endurance and strength – from hybrid athlete Fergus Crawley to Mark Twight. They personify my goals, often at cross purposes with each other, to be strong for a fast guy and fast for a strong guy. One will never be the fastest or strongest, but you can be pretty decent at both.
Mark just released Poison: Sermons on Suffering which I’m about half way through and loving. And for movies, check out The Sanctity of Space for a beautiful ode to one of America’s greatest climbing legends and the modern day climbers who follow in his footsteps.
Day one of tadalafil; eager to see how this goes as a new part of my pre-workout routine along with creatine and enclomiphine.
